500 000 sold copies

Just in time for the big Halloween update Minecraft had sold more than 500 000 copies. About a month ago it had ‘only’ sold 250 000 copies. I must say I didn’t expect the sales to continue at this mind-blowing rate. As of right now the game has sold 524 727 copies and it still sells about 7500 copies a day. That is a really big pile of money the game makes, every day! About 100 000 dollars per day with some rough calculations.

I will write about the Halloween update in a later post, a bit late I know but I want to play it a bit for myself first. :)

PC Gamer has written a preview article about the upcoming Minecraft Halloween update coming on October 31st. It will tell you about some exiting things to expect and it has some screenshots of what the new ‘hell dimension’ will look like.

The USS Enterprise in Minecraft

Some guy is building a perfect replica of the USS Enterprise in Minecraft, it’s pretty insane. If I would build something like it I would probably have gone for a Borg cube. Because you now.. Borg cubes are cubes, like pretty much everything else in Minecraft.
You know what I would really like to see in Minecraft? A Deathstar. :)

250 000 sold copies

Minecraft has now sold more than 250 000 copies, 256 531 right now to be more exact. That’s not bad for a game that is still in alpha, not bad at all. In fact, that’s not bad for any game.

Game sales have slowed down a bit lately but there were still 6500 people who bought a copy in the last 24 hours. That equals 65000 euros in the last 24 hours or in dollars: $87100.

In total the game will soon have made 3.5 million dollars for it’s creator. Considering that it only took a little more than a year, and it was created by mostly one guy that is a really crazy amount of money.
